SHG group have achieved in empowering women by increasing the decision making power both in household as well as outside. SHG’s are source of inspiration for women’s welfare. One ofthe example is MAA GAURI MAHILA MANCHA SHG OF Kodakhamam of keonjhar dist.
The village kodakhamam situated at JAMUNAPOSI GRAM PANCHAYAT of Patna Block. More than 260 Household reside there and the only means of livelihood is daily wage works. AT present there are 10 SHG groups functioning in the village. Among these Maa Gauri Mahila Mancha is one of them. This SHG group was established in 2005 but due to inter conflict and miss understanding between the members the group was closed in 2008. Again with the help of PECUC volunteer, Village MPV and cluster organizer that group was re union. From that day onwards the group is tremendous working for the benefit of the members. There are 10 members in the group for goat rearing each member was given goat by the PECUC to raise their income under IGP. At first they were given 6 goats. Now this increased to 13.People get profit by selling the goat. The profit they got from selling the goats that amount was utilized for the betterment of the group. Besides these IG activities they also conduct regular meeting and address various issues related to women violence, child labor and bring solution in collaboration with Youth group member and with villager.
Another achievement of this group they have formed a federation and have got Rs.10000 from Mission Shakti. The total amount saved by the group will be utilized in the future for group welfare. They are planning to do kitchen garden in which this saving amount. The SHG member not only looks after their family but help their children in studies. They regularly send their children to Shradha bhavan and school. They also prefer higher education for their children.
Laxmi Munda son of one of the SHG member Mina Munda took admission in Turumunga Mahavidyalaya. She express her happiness with a big smile on her face and gave hearty thanks to PECUC that because of the organization support and encouragement they could able to achieve all the success in their group”
