Chinamaye belongs to a middle class family, her husband Pratap Kumar Das is a small business man.
Her father house is at Cuttack Phulnakhara, he is a priest who does rituals in temples and in other occasions. About her family she has 3 sisters and one brother, all of them have already been married. Her father name is Brundaban Biswal and her mother name is Kamala Biswal. As she belongs to Brahmin family so all their income comes from doing rituals in temples and in other homes, shops etc. Due to financial crises they were unable to get proper education. Any how her father was able to do marriages of all her sisters and Chinmaye. Her brother in latter stage became the Sarpanch of their Panchayat; presently her brother is doing business.
On 15th July 2005 she got married to Pratap son of Bhagirathi Das & Sandhyarani Das. In her father-in-law house 2 brothers-in-law, 2 sister-in-law, father-in-law, mother-in-law, 2 children of elder brother and her 2 children of her all of them stay together. Her elder son studies in Standard-II (7 years old) & the youngest son is only 5 years old goes to Anganwadi Center. In her in-law house the standard of living is good as her husband is a businessman and her father-in-law is a retired government servant draws pension monthly and her elder-brother-in-law does business.
In the year 2012 she won the election and came as a ward member in Tikarpada Panchayat. Before standing in the election she was involved in the household works. She says, “People choose me as their representative, in spite of my non interest towards politics, but my husband inspired me to join politics and do something for the best interest of the people. As everyone believed in my husband and their love towards my husband gave me an opportunity to stand in the election. Maximum people gave me support and I won the as ward member position in the year 2012”. She again says, “By seeing the love and affection of people for me this gave me confidence and strength to do something for the people”.
Though she came into power as Ward member but what are her responsibilities, duties was unknown to her she immediately took help of Executive Officer and her brother. But she knew that PECUC and THP were also working for the development of the PRI’s. So, she immediately came under the shadow of PECUC and attended different capacity building trainings, workshops, meetings of ALIBHA i.e. Cluster Level, Block Level & District Level EWR’s Federation Meetings in every month, which gave her extreme strength and capacity to know about her roles towards her people and panchayat. She has also attended many other trainings of different organization like OVHA, CYSD etc. Since 2012 she has done many social security schemes of people like IAY-10 nos., almost 80 % of pension has been done under her time period. During her tenure 2 road work has been done. She attends GKS meeting, Matru Janch Committee, VHND programmes, health programmes in her Panchayat. Weekly thrice she visits school and Anganwadi Centre. Regarding Sanitation of village she spends Rs.3000 in a half yearly for cleaning of villages, tube-wells, wells etc.
One problem that she sorted out was in Anganwadi Centre, when she came as a ward member and came to know that they can monitor the Anganwadi & School MDM so she went and kept an eye on it but what she recognized that in Anganwadi the children were not given any eggs so she shared this problem in ALIBHA Federation Meeting, in the meeting the members said that first she should ask the Anganwadi Worker that why she is not providing eggs to the children, if she does not change her attitude then we will give a written application to BDO & CDPO as well to the Sarpanch. But when she talked with the Angawadi Worker she came to know that it is not coming from the Block, so she and Anganwadi Worker together went and gave an application to CDPO & BDO, finally the BDO and CDPO granted the application and now the Anganwadi Center is getting eggs, the problem was sorted out because of the suggestion given in the ALIBHA EWR’s meeting. Presently Tikarpada Panchayat is having problem of sanitation as there are no latrines & toilets in the Panchayats, especially during raining season people face lots of problem in going outside for defecation. For that Chinmaye says, “We have already given proposal by the help of the Sarpanch Sanghamitra Pal. Hopefully we will be having latrines in our Panchayat and our panchyat will be become OD free village”.
“In coming days the only dream I am seeing is to make my ward cleaner and environment friendly, for that I am planning to plant trees and set up dustbin to keep it neat & clean”, she says.
One thing I want to say, “If you want something, go and get it. If you have needs, desires, dreams and goals, run towards them, don't wait as fortune favors the bold”. All these willingness, desires, dreams & goals was only possible because of my ALIBHA EWR’s Federation a creator & groomer of PECUC”
