Chandra Majhi, (16 yrs) is staying with his parents Mangal and Malli Majhi at Rohiniduma village of Dumuria GP, Patna block, Keonjhar District. Both of his parents are daily labourers. Whatever they earn from their work is not sufficient to run their household expenses. The financial constraint of the family forced Chandra to become a dropout in class 8th in the year 2018. After leaving school Chandra picked up different types of jobs to earn some money for his family. He was working as a helper in a tractor and also in tent houses etc. In the year 2020, he was rescued and mainstreamed to school by PECUC with the support of CPC members working in his village and this year he passed the Matric Exam with 346 marks out of 600. Chandra wants to continue his study and it is his aim to become a teacher. But money is a major hindrance in realizing his dream. Chandra was identified by PECUC to receive support under ‘Masoom- Support a Child Programme’ PECUC. On 19th Sept 2022 he was supported Rs 20000 by Bijay Patnayak Memorial foundation for continuing his study at Bhubaneswar Gita Bhavan.
